Saud Shakeel’s third Test century allowed him to match a record that has stood since 1959, while also enhancing Pakistan’s chances of winning the first Test against Bangladesh.
Shakeel scored 141 to achieve his third Test century, helping Pakistan reach a total of 448/6 declared. At stumps, Bangladesh was 27 without loss, leaving the match evenly poised with three days left.
Shakeel surpassed 1000 Test runs during his innings, equalling Saeed Ahmed’s 1959 record as the joint-fastest Pakistani batter to reach the milestone. Both achieved this in 11 Tests and 20 innings.
